Promoting From Within 9/15/16

When it comes to business growth, having the ability to create new positions and expand on current roles within your company is vital to its overall success.

When this happens, a business is forced to either recruit new talent or promote from within. This can be a tough choice, particularly when there are skilled and dedicated employees in your organization versus the undiscovered talent that is out there in need of a chance on the job market.

“We are always looking to give people an opportunity to grow.” Vice President and General Manager Colin

Wetlaufer said. “If someone is interested in a different position and is qualified, we heavily look into that option before going outside of the company.”

Carl Kelley is a recent example of filling a position from within at CITY. Kelley initially started in CITY’s janitorial department. When a position opened up in the service department, Kelley took the initiative to check it out.

“Carl had a huge impact in janitorial and it is tough losing such a great worker within that department,” Maintenance Manger Jamie Randall said.

“This switch is what is best for the company and I know Carl will exceed on the service end as well.”Every month, job openings are posted to the company newsletter and a detailed job description can be found on CITY’s website.

“We are always trying to find the right fit for everyone. If you believe you would be a better asset to the company in a different position, please let us know,” Wetlaufer said.

If anyone is ever interested in one of the open positions, please see or talk to your supervisor or see Amanda Genthe in the office.
