We believe that corporate sustainability is about doing the right thing. We are dedicated to environmental stewardship and ensuring we manage best practices in all of our business efforts. Our facility works hard to find sustainable solutions to lower our carbon footprint and increase our energy independence.

Solar energy_

Solar

CITY has the largest roof mount for any privately-held Iowa Company. Our solar setup includes 850 solar panels with a total capacity of 301.53 kW that will replace 1/3 of our annual electric usage.

That’s a big step for our company, but what does that really mean in terms of impact?

In short, it means we’re making significant progress toward cleaner energy and lower emissions. Our system generates enough power, which adds up to big savings for the environment:

  • It’s like cutting out 18,029 gallons of diesel fuel every year.
  • Or like not burning 20,652 gallons of gasoline.
  • It’s also the equivalent of powering 36 homes for a whole year.
  • Plus, it could fully charge over 12 million smartphones!
Water purification_

Water

Our Norchem UltraPure water filtration system saves 665,000 gallons of water each month, allowing us to:

  • Recycle over 70% of our water.
  • Reuse 25% of our detergent.

Energy

CITY's corporate headquarters has completed an LED light conversion which saves over 45,000 kilowatt-hours and reduces 57,991 pounds of CO2 annually, equal to:

  • Remove 5 cars off the road per year.
  • Plant 8 acres of trees per year.

CITY has earned the TRSA Clean Green Certification
