Wapsie Valley Creamery, Inc. (Wapsie) is a family-owned business which manufactures cheese, lactose, and whey products at its Independence, Iowa processing plant. Wapsie purchases its milk for the manufacturing of its products from nearly 300 independent dairy farms in east and northeast Iowa, southwest Wisconsin and northwest Illinois. Wapsie Valley Creamery, Inc. employs 79 people in northeast Iowa.
Wapsie has successfully produced products in the dairy industry since 1906. Although the dairy industry has shown little growth over the years, Wapsie has continuously adjusted its manufacturing processes and equipment to compete in the volatile landscapes of the dairy industry. Wapsie Valley Creamery continues to invest in new equipment that is able to process more milk more efficiently to obtain the best yields in its products.
“We have been with CITY for nearly 20 years, and for several reasons. We were with a company before CITY, and it was a “we wondered” company. “We wondered” if they would bring enough pants and bring enough shirts. It was a nightmare. So we looked into CITY because they were local. They came in and said we can make sure the wondering disappeared.“
Robert Hill – Human Resources
“We have had good route representation and they are dependable. They have a good turnaround time for when we have new employees, and when we work holidays, CITY is always willing to alter their schedule to make sure we get what we need. The last thing is, CITY just has a good staff. I can call in and I know everyone by name. It has been a good relationship and CITY has always been true to their word.”
