CITY Laundering Expands Through Campus Cleaners Commercial Laundry Acquisition
SPIRIT LAKE, IA — CITY Laundering Co. today announced the acquisition of the commercial laundry division of Campus Cleaners, securing a new CITY service depot in Spirit Lake and expanding service coverage across Northwest Iowa.
The acquisition, completed during the winter of 2021–2022, includes Campus Cleaners’ industrial and restaurant rental business and reflects CITY’s continued commitment to thoughtful, people-first growth.
“This partnership represents months of careful planning and collaboration,” said Colin Wetlaufer, President of CITY Laundering Co. “By completing this acquisition last winter, we were able to take the time needed to ensure continuity for customers, stability for employees, and a smooth operational transition. That approach reflects who we are as a fourth-generation, family-owned company.”
For over 25 years, Campus Cleaners has built a strong reputation for quality service and trusted customer relationships. CITY is committed to honoring that legacy by welcoming Campus Cleaners’ commercial customers into its multi-generational, family-owned organization while maintaining the service standards they expect.
Campus Cleaners’ Owner and Operator, George Carlson, is working closely with the CITY team throughout the transition to ensure long-term success. The Spirit Lake facility will continue to serve customers with many of the same service team members, reinforcing continuity and familiarity.
“This expansion strengthens our ability to serve Northwest Iowa while staying true to our long-term stewardship mindset,” Wetlaufer added. “We believe growth should enhance what already works—supporting employees, protecting customer relationships, and investing in the communities we serve.”
CITY Laundering Co. is the largest independent, family-owned commercial laundry provider in the region, offering uniform rental and laundering services throughout Iowa, Minnesota, Eastern South Dakota, Eastern Nebraska, and Western Wisconsin.
