City has begun implementing its LED lighting conversion program, with the
developed solution that will help reduce energy consumption as well as utility and maintenance costs throughout the entire company.

As a separate part of the company’s “long-term commitment to being environmentally aware, it will save City thousands of dollars according to Maintenance Engineer Jamie
Randall.

“When Colin brought this to my attention, it just made sense because LED lights will offer a more natural, clear and crisp lighting that cost less to operate and consumes less energy,” Randall said.”
City’s old lighting system required regular maintenance to each bulb after two – four years of use. The LED lights will last 20 years.
The maintenance dept. is currently working on replacing the existing lights with LED and is about half way done. Once completed, City will have installed 700 new bulbs throughout the plant.
Randall said so far he has had a lot of positive remarks such as “I don’t know how I worked in such a dark space before.”

Lighting is very important for the image apparel department due to matching the correct color. Embroidery Manager Jean Kane said she loves their new lights.

“We need natural lighting to be efficient and just taking one step inside my door it’s so bright,” Kane said.

The maintenance staff is aiming to complete by the end installation within the next couple of weeks.
