Benefits to the CITY AED Program

Sudden cardiac arrest, a condition in which the heart suddenly stops beating, is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., according to the American Red Cross. And approximately 10,000 cardiac arrests occur at work each year.

AEDs (automatic external defibrillators) save lives and are designed to treat cardiac arrest. An AED recently saved a man’s life at a local high school basketball game.

By analyzing the heart rhythm, the device sent an electric shock to the heart to restore a normal rhythm.

Alongside first aid supplies, CITY offers clients an AED program, including a Zoll AED PLUS device, regularly scheduled inspection of these devices, and training. An AED program provided by CITY provides the following benefits:

Easy to Use

The AED is a compact, lightweight, portable, battery operated device that is easy to use. They are completely safe, will only deliver a shock if an appropriate shock-able cardiac rhythm is detected.

Saves Valuable Minutes

The average response time for first responders once 9-1-1 is called is 8-12 minutes, 5-7% chance of survival.

However, if a victim receives defibrillation within the first minute of collapse, the victim’s chances for survival are close to 90%, according to the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association.

Having an AED readily available saves valuable minutes when trying to save a life.

Compliance

The PlusTrac Monitoring program included with the AED provides maintenance records, expiration tracking, and alerts that can be produced when necessary in case of local/state/federal legal review. It also meets Good Samaritan requirements.

A Managed Program

We provide clients with a fully managed program, including the AED, all necessary components, and the PlusTrac monitoring system. A facility services representative also regularly inspects every AED to ensure it is working properly.

Safer Work Environment

Placing an AED in the workplace, along with a properly managed program and training for employees on how to use the devices, could mean the difference between life and death. It is essential to provide defibrillation immediately following a cardiac arrest, and with an AED, you will be able to provide employees with a life-saving device.

Training

Even in the safest of workplaces, accidents can happen. First aid education is extremely valuable for protecting employees when immediate action needs to be taken. Our facility service representative can provide your employees with CPR, first aid, and AED training.

“Our clients can put it in our hands, and let us handle it all for them,” Facility Services Representative Al Voigt said. “They have peace-of-mind as far as the monitoring, tracking, and training goes.”
