Rick Mast is CITY’s 2021 Founder’s Award Recipient. After three decades, Rick has held multiple positions from maintenance to management to being the shuttle driver, and President Colin Wetlaufer said, “There is no one more deserving.”

What is the Founder’s Award?

Recognizing employees who exhibit behavior consistent with our core values, this
honor is reserved for those who go above and beyond while making a significant contribution to the organization.

“For as long as I have been actively in the business, Rick has been a part of CITY. The spirit of the award is those who live our core values. Rick has always been incredibly committed and always has a sense of urgency,” Colin said.“He understands the priorities of the business and what really matters and it just means a lot, Rick!”

The Founder’s Award was established by 3rd generation CITY President Roger Wetlaufer in honor of his grandfather Herb Wetlaufer.

“My grandfather valued hard work. Rick Mast has worked a lot of early mornings and late evenings to keep our plant running. This is enough to deserve the Founder’s Award right there. However, in addition to being a hard worker, Rick is genuinely one of the nicest people that I have ever met. I cannot recall ever hearing him say something negative about anyone. He always respects his coworkers and does his job every day with a smile on his face,” Roger said.

Rick started with CITY in 1991 and over the years has worked with many of his family members.

“I have so much appreciation for you and your family and all that you have done. There are not many people like Rick Mast and I am so glad you are here [at CITY],” Colin said.
