Teamwork and relationships are the heart of what we do. That’s why we created The Wash—a video series “where it all comes out” that combines fun, fiery hot wings with insightful interviews. Hosted by CITY’s very own Zach Ostendorf from the marketing team, this show is more than just a Q&A interview; it’s a deep dive into the personalities that make the industry thrive.
Inspired by Hot Ones, the popular YouTube series, Zach and the team put their own spin on it, creating a show that reflects CITY’s culture and showcases the personalities behind the job responsibilities.
That Wash is about showcasing real stories within CITY and the broader laundry industry.
Behind the Heat
In Season 1, The Wash was more of an experiment—a way to prove the concept. “We featured a variety of people and focused on getting comfortable with the format,” Zach, CITY’s Videographer, recalls. By Season 2, the team had found its rhythm, shifting the focus to people who have impacted CITY in one way or another.
With help from Nick Swenston, Head of Creative at CITY, the technical aspects of the production were improved—better lighting, clearer audio, and overall polish to match the increasingly engaging content. Zach also grew more comfortable in his role as host, helping the interviews flow naturally, even as the wings got hotter!
But hosting a show with increasingly spicy hot wings isn’t without its challenges! One of the most memorable and unexpectedly tough aspects of the show is handling the heat. The sauce that usually makes people hit their breaking point is Da Bomb, which has become infamous among guests. While some breeze through the earlier wings, many hit a wall by the eighth or ninth sauce.
Beyond entertainment, The Wash brings a unique glimpse into the personalities that support CITY’s. Whether it’s watching someone take on Da Bomb or learning something new about a CITY vendor partner, The Wash showcases what makes CITY a great place to work.
Host Spotlight: Zach Ostendorf
As the host of The Wash, Zach Ostendorf brings more than just his video skills—he brings personality, creativity, and a passion for storytelling. With a background in video production and a love for sports, Zach’s approach to interviews is all about keeping things real, fun, and engaging.
Zach is especially proud of his work on the upcoming CITY Way training videos, which help new hires navigate tasks like truck loading and inspections. His attention to detail and emphasis on preparation ensures that every video—whether it’s for training or The Wash—runs smoothly.
Outside of CITY, Zach is a big sports enthusiast and can often be found playing sports with friends. And, of course, football dominates his weekends—whether he’s watching or dreaming of playing in the NFL.
