It’s Like Seeing My Family Away from Home

I started working at CITY because I was looking for a long-term position in a place I planned to retire from. I also wanted to work for a company that was family-oriented, and I found that at CITY. I’ve been at CITY for almost five years, and I never plan on going anywhere else.

I love it here because I love working with my customers. They are one of the major perks of the job. I really enjoy getting to know people. I look forward to going out and seeing my family every morning because they are like family to me. I get to service, visit, and chat with my clients and I have made long-lasting friendships. When I’m out on my route, I enjoy myself.

Overall, my job is very important to me. As I said, my customers are like family, so I want to treat them that way. In order to do my job and do it well, I have to be a people person, be friendly, go above and beyond because the customers appreciate and deserve that level of service.  They don’t want someone to come in to only service their business and leave. They want someone they can have a good rapport with; someone they can communicate with.

It’s a lot better to have a relationship with your customers. If they ever need anything, they will feel more confident coming to you and asking you for help if you treat them right. This way, they don’t feel like they have to call into the office to get things taken care of and they trust you to take care of them.

I take ownership of my role because my work is a reflection of me. I’m a person that is willing to go above and beyond. I want my customers to be proud that I’m their route rep. I want them to look forward to having me service them.

You just have to have a positive attitude. If you only focus on the hiccups or the negatives, all it’s going to do is wear you down like no other. If you let the negative effect your day, it not only affects you, but your customers can tell as well. I genuinely believe that if you love what you do, you can always find the positives. This job isn’t a job to me. It’s like going and seeing my family away from home and I can’t see it any other way.
