5 years ago as of August 2023, CITY became the first uniform laundry provider in the region to receive TRSA’s Hygienically Clean Food Safety Certification.

The certification exhibited CITY’s commitment to producing a quality garment rental program that met food industry standards in the following segments: meat processing, ingredients, dairies, fruits/vegetables, bakeries, grains, and other food and beverage segments. With detailed quality assurance plans and procedures, CITY provided textiles with zero presence of harmful bacteria.

TRSA (Textile Rental Service Association) completed a third-party inspection evaluating CITY’s critical control points. This inspection was conducted to confirm that the laundry processing facility met all certification requirements, including establishing critical control points, the validation of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system effectiveness, and quality documentation of ongoing certification conformance. These requirements ensured that the facility operated with hygienically clean standards, and all employees had been trained to uphold these standards.

Furthermore, all CITY employees completed hygienically clean food safety training. This training provided all employees with the necessary understanding of proper washing/drying procedures, garment inspection, transportation of textiles, and appropriate personal protection equipment to avoid garment and linen contamination.

To receive the TRSA certification, CITY underwent and continues to complete microbial testing. Testing of water quality, textile fabric composition, and wash chemistry was also completed.

Colin Wetlaufer, President of CITY, emphasized the importance of food safety and proper uniform laundering in mitigating cross-contamination risks. “We recognize the importance of food safety and understood that proper uniform laundering was a critical control point in minimizing cross-contamination,” said Wetlaufer. “We made investments in our equipment and technology for the food processing industry, and the TRSA certification was a testament to that commitment. We want to put our customers in the best position to succeed.”
