In the heart of City Laundry’s operations is Tim Downs, a dedicated Route Service Representative whose journey with CITY has been marked by growth, gratitude, and the joy of forming meaningful connections.

Early Days and Learning From Mentors

Tim’s journey with CITY began as a route apprentice, covering routes across Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and Minnesota. Having spent three years with us, Tim brings a wealth of experience and a passion for building meaningful connections with our customers.

Reflecting on his early days, Tim acknowledges the influence of Tim Nuss, from whom he learned the importance of treating people not just as customers but as friends.“He truly was excited to see his customers every week,” Tim says, highlighting the genuine relationships fostered in the CITY community.

CITY’s Impact on Personal Life

Transitioning from filling in for vacation routes to a dedicated route service representative role brought Tim closer to his customers. “That is my favorite part of the job,” he shares. The opportunity to see familiar faces every week, inquire about their lives, and build personal connections has become the cornerstone of Tim’s role.

With gratitude, Tim recognizes the positive impact CITY has had on his personal life. Coming from a demanding retail background with long hours, CITY has allowed him to prioritize family.

amily than I had before joining CITY,” Tim said.

The four-day workweek as a route service representative at CITY has become a source of joy for Tim. “I love that. That’s been something I’ve really grown to love,” Tim said.

The balance between work and personal life has made a significant difference, enabling Tim to coach his kids’ Little League teams and be present for family moments.
