“An Absolute Honor” | Meet Bradley Brickzin, District Manager

Anyone who has had the pleasure of working with Bradley Brickzin knows he can instantly brighten your day with his positive attitude. Brad started work at CITY in March of 2022 as the Service Supervisor for the Cedar Rapids Depot and was soon promoted to District Manager [DM].

Marty Kruse, Eastern Iowa Regional Manager, and Brad’s direct supervisor reports that Brad takes extreme pride in his work, and was thrilled to have the promotion to District Manager. Bradley is always eager to take on more challenges, and even when he has a tough day, he doesn’t let it affect his positive demeanor, which influences the rest of the service team, and makes him a great fit for CITY as a whole.

“I am absolutely honored to be the District Manager. Honored and blown away. It’s a real privilege,” Brad says.

Prior to relocating to the Cedar Rapids area, Brad had over ten years of management experience at BassPro and other companies. He applied at CITY because he was attracted to the idea of a family business that puts people first. Some companies, Brad says, claim to be about the people, but don’t really live out their values. “That’s not the case at CITY. We don’t just say we care about our employees and our customers, we really show it through our actions.”

“Brad is a great manager. He’s always willing to help us out and answer any questions, and he sets a great example for the whole team,” Route Service Representative Eric Dochterman says. “Everyone loves Brad.”

Providing excellent, responsive customer service is paramount at CITY, which is why Brad is such a great team member. His customer service and management background paired with the genuine rapport he builds with customers and co-workers alike helped Brad earn his promotion so quickly, according to Marty Kruse.

Brad says his favorite part of working at CITY is the people. “Everyone I’ve met at CITY is outstanding, from Colin [Wetlaufer, CITY’s President] to the Route Reps, to Marty, and everyone else. Everyone cares and wants to help move the company forward.”

Brad has helped Marty build a service team in Cedar Rapids, that follows the core values that have been instilled at CITY for over 116 years. From putting the customer first to operating with a sense of urgency, Brad is here to help CITY impact the Eastern Iowa region.

Brad’s best piece of advice is, “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care. Treat everyone with respect and fairness.” Brad said this is truly how he operates and will continue to operate in his new role as District Manager. Whether office staff, Route Service Reps, or marketing, Brad knows how to bring a smile to everyone’s face.

When Brad isn’t working, he enjoys spending time with his family and recently got married to his wife Jayne. Brad loves spending time outdoors and has on his bucket list a mule deer hunting trip to Alberta, Canada.
